I have been lucky to work in the field of psychology for over 13 years, providing services to diverse clientele in a broad range of settings and regions in the United States. Raised in
Minnesota, I received an undergraduate degree from Williams College in the Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts. Then I promptly did what any plucky graduate of a liberal arts school would do: parlayed my political science degree into work as a reporter for a San Francisco television station. Somehow, logic aside, this led me to graduate school in Clinical Psychology.
After getting a Ph.D. from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Francisco, I continued training at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis and received my doctorate in 2005. I spent several years in Salt Lake City focusing on psychotherapy, psychological testing, teaching as a professor, and becoming certified as a yoga instructor at the 500-hour level with D’ana Baptiste. My specialty areas include anxiety, depression, blending yoga and therapy, mind-body connection, relationship & intimacy problems, stress management, sleep disorders, addiction, trauma/loss, and emotional eating. Rather than subscribing to a formula, I blend Western and Eastern philosophies and integrate mind and body to tailor treatment to your needs.
My professional and personal experience of being a psychologist, yoga instructor and lifelong athlete have strengthened my ability to help others. My clients remark about how approachable and authentic they find me, and this leads to a relationship of trust and teamwork. I am dedicated to promoting compassion and balance as a source of healing for my clients. My ultimate message is for you to find your own way in this often chaotic world. When not spreading this message, I divide my time between the running trails and the yoga mat.
